Lot description
3 vol., 4to, n.c. (incomplete, sl. browning, some covers trimmed too short with very minor loss).
Contemp. three-quarter vellum, marbled paper on the boards, gilt filleted flat spines with red and yellow title- and year labels (sl. soiling, rubbed, joints partly split).
Influential German arts magazine, founded in 1896 in Munich by Georg Hirth, published until 1940. It was originally intended to showcase German Arts and Crafts, but became famous for showcasing the German version of Art Nouveau instead. Richly illustrated in colours and b/w, in a wide range of styles: Jugendstil, impressionist, expressionist, satirical, etc. Despite the indications on the back of the volumes (1901, 1906-07, 1910), these contain issues from all the years between 1899 and 1910, sometimes bound out of order.
