Second edition (1st ed.: 1570) of this commentary on the Novellae, fourth part of the Corpus Iuris Civilis, collection of new constitutions passed after 534 and composed mostly in Greek. Cujas (1522-1590), a native of Toulouse, was a major legal humanist (they concentrated on ascertaining the correct text and social context of the Roman law), and was professor in various universities.
