First ed. of this detailed monograph about the condition of the Congo territories after nearly twenty years of King Leopold's rule, included with the Congo debate in the Belgian house of representatives in 1903. Morel (1873-1924) was a British journalist who campaigned against slavery in the Congo Free State through his critical writing in the West African Mail. He was also a co-founder of Congo Reform Association. Ill. with 23 photographic pl., one full-page map and a folding map.
