Folio: [10]-504-[2] pp. (Jesuit church pl. repaired at verso, minor spotting or browning).
Old overl. vellum, flat spine with gilt-stamped title. Good copy.
First edition of this important topographical work on the marquisate of Antwerp by J. Le Roy (1633-1719). Engr. title by A. van Diepenbeeck with on verso the engr. "schema metallorum", typographic title mentioning the availability at Albertus Magnus's, another typographic title mentioning F. Lamminga, dedication to Charles II with engr. arms pasted at top of the page and another "schema metallorum" on verso, 11 full-page pl. showing mostly funeral monuments, 16 (of 18, i.a. Antwerp Cathedral missing) double-page or folding pl. of which 2 maps, 2 city maps (Antwerp, Breda), views of the Jesuit church, and funeral monuments, monasteries, castles i.a. "Monasteri S. Michaelis abbati", "Cartusiam Liranam", "Castrum toparchiae de Broechem", "Tungerloa", "Turnhout celebre Taxandriae municipium", "Corsendonca", etc. and 55 smaller pl. on 44 pp. showing views of Berchem, Schilde, Schoten, Wijnegem, Corsendonk, Grobbendonk, Westerlo, Westmalle, Hoogstraten, Hoboken, Monkhoven, Burcht, Turnhout, Boom, etc. With ca. 150 ill. in-text depicting coats of arms or ill. of tombs. A tantalizing made-up copy, with a number of (shorter) inserted ff. - perhaps proof ff. (some without the engravings printed on the "finished" ff.). Some of these added ff. show differences in type and layout.
