1. Kaulbach, Wilhelm von (1805-1874) - Cardboard with one of his ill. for "Reynard the Fox" (engr., Franz Hanfstaengl, München) with aut. short note in 4 lines. S.l., 20th April 1873. Painter, noted mainly as a muralist, but also as a book illustrator. Paper strip with another aut. signature of the same.-- 2. Meynen, Franz (1840-1915) - Letter to Mr. Mayer [Emil Mayer?]. Cologne, 25th June 1872. Photographer and sculptor active in Cologne.-- 3. Beer, Wilhelm Amandus (1837-1907) - Letter to Mr. Mayer [id.]. Francfort, 30th June 1873. A genre painter, with a passion for Russian subjects (he was nicknamed the "Russen-Beer"). With an albumen print of the photography of his drawn self-portrait with his wife and child (Studio J. Schaefer, Francfort).-- 4. Richter, Gustav (1823-1884) - Letter to Mr. Aenberg. S.l.n.d. Figure and portrait painter, son-in-law of the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer.-- 5. Achenbach, Andreas (1815-1910) - Short letter to Mr. Beck (or Becker?). S.l., 17th June 1872. Landscape and seascape painter in the Romantic style, considered to be one of the founders of the Düsseldorf School.-- 6. Meyerheim, Paul (1842-1915) - Short letter to "Lieber Oscar". S.l.n.d. On pink laid paper. Landscape, portrait and animal painter.
Prov. For 2 and 3: probably Emil Mayer (1824-1879), German businessman native of Cologne and established in Antwerp, where he married Henriëtte van den Bergh (1838-1920), founder of the famous Museum Mayer van den Bergh, housing the collection of their son Fritz. (8 pcs)
