Lot description
Drawings, pencil, pen and black ink, greywash, watercolour, etc. On velin paper.
Mounted on 10 paper supports.
Sketches with daily life scenes, sculptures, and mostly topographical views of Brussels, Cologne, Chambord, Chaumont made during visits in 1888-1889, of Bruges in 1891, of Ghent in 1894, and Mechelen and Villers-la-Ville. A. Verbouwe, specialist in historical topography and known as author of several monographies in regional iconography, attributed the sketches to the British architectural watercolourist E. George (1839-1922). He also refers to an album "Sketches in Belgium", published in 1878.
