Lot description

4 drawings, pencil, 32 x 24,5 cm, wove paper, (two) signed and dated in pencil at bottom "CM 09".

Two sketches of seated women (twice Gabrielle Canivet?), entitled "croquis d'après ma femme", and two study sheets of nude men (unsigned). Constant Montald (1862-1944) was a Belgian painter, muralist, and sculptor, and one of the final leading figures of Belgian Art Nouveau. His students there include some of the best-known names of Belgian painters: René Magritte, Paul Delvaux, Edgard Tytgat, Paul Cauchie, Joseph Lacasse, Armand Bonnetain, Paul Heymans along with many others.
