Mod. overl. vellum, flat spine (older flyleaves preserved). Very good copy.

One of the first comparative grammars of the bible languages: Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac. L. de Dieu (1590-1642) studied theology and Oriental languages (Hebrew, Syriac, Ethiopic, and Arabic) in Leiden with Thomas Erpenius and Jacob Golius. He was renowned for his interpretations of biblical texts based on a wide and profound linguistic knowledge. In this comparative grammar of a number of Semitic languages he dealt more with Syriac than Aramaic, as the latter had already been fully treated. Woodcut mark on title. Title in red and black.
