The Romantic painter Willem Lodewijk Andrea (1817-1873) lived and worked for the most part of his life in The Hague and he further developed the Dutch school of landscape painting. He was slightly influenced by Andreas Schelfout. He was also known for city portraits such as this one of Leiden.
