8vo: engr. front., [48]-518-[2 bl.]-[37]-[1 bl] pp. (title-page with left and head margins restored, ink mark and little hole in the lower right corner, some foxing, some marginal clear waterstains).
17th-century style binding by A. Despierres: green morocco, double gilt frame with fillets and sm. tools on covers, ribbed decorated and gilt spine, inside dentelle, a.e.g. (inside joint split, sl. used on the turn-ins, joints, cuts and corners).
Revised and enlarged edition (1st ed., same address, 1601) of this mystic work by a Provencal jesuit, Richeome (1544-1625), nicknamed "le Cicéron français" by his colleagues. Remarkably illustrated with an architectural frontisp. by Thomas de Leu, showing allegories of Church and religion and King Henri IV and Marie de Medicis (with their coats-of- arms) adoring the Virgin and Child, and 14 full-page figures by Leonard Gaultier and Charles de Mallery.
