Lot description

4 vol., folio: [20]-532, [2]-533/974-[62], 654, [2]-655/1180-68 pp. (toning, some spotting; vol. I: browning; vol. II-IV: staining in blank margin).

Contemp. calf (sl. rubbed & soiled, some scratches), richly gilt spines with 6 raised bands (some sm. def. at heads or tails), title labels. Good copy.

Later edition (1st 1698-1704) of these commentaries on the "Pandectae" by the Dutch lawyer J. Voet (1647-1713). The title pages of vol. I and III have both de Hondt and t'Serstevens as printer, apparently unrecorded in STCN and STCV for the 1723 ed.: STCN shows the de Hondt title, STCV shows t'Serstevens on title. The 3rd vol. has only t'Serstevens (1723) on title. The 4th vol. (= Tomus 2, part 2) is from the 3rd ed. with only de Hondt on title (1716). Large woodcut mark of de Hondt on titles, some woodcut initials and endpieces. All titles printed in red and black.
