Lot description
14 (of 16) engr., ca. 34 x 42,5 cm, part. hand-coloured (maps missing: 2. Bergen-op-Zoom and 3. Bois-le-Duc).
Mounted on cloth, in cardboard case (used).
2nd edition without the dedication to the duke of Arenberg (1st ed.: 1786) of de Bouge's first large-scaled and valuable work, engraved by A. Pris whose name was removed from the plate (1st st.) while in the 2nd state the names of the Brussels engravers Jeanne Cathérine Maillart and her brother Philippe-Joseph were added. First employed as cartographer by J.J. de Ferraris, this map is influenced by his "Carte marchande", but made in a smaller scale.
