Cont. blindst. calf over wood, roll-stamps on covers (clasps and catches gone), blindst. spine on 3 raised bands (head repaired). Good copy.
Lyon ed. (reprint of the 1549 ed.) and attractive handy format for this famous herbarium by Fuchs. Illustrated with Arnoullet's sea-horse device on title, a woodcut portrait of the author and over 500 miniature botanical woodcuts of plants with their names in Greek, Latin, German and French. The ills are reduced versions of the woodcuts in the folio ed. publ. by Isingrin in Basel which were commissioned from Clément Boussy by Arnoullet in 1547 and first appeared in his 1549 Lyon ed. Largely annotated copy with besides notes in the margins and on the endpapers and flylvs, an extensive "Index Germanicarum appellationum" at the end. Ref.
