Lot description
Etching and engraving, 19,4 x 26,4 cm, laid paper, unsigned (laid down on thick paper).
Very rare anonymous broadsheet print, intended as a satire on the Roman Catholic mass: lay persons and monks labouring to produce wafers for consecration. "Jean le Blanc" or "Jan de Weisses" were Protestant nicknames for the Holy Host. With engraved French and German text in the lower margin. Good black impression.
