Extensive treatise "On the excellence of the female sex" by the Dordrecht "society doctor" and prolific author Johan van Beverwijck (1594-1647), proving that a woman is not inferior, not equal, but superior to the man. His arguments are mainly based on medical principles. Nice double-page engr. by P.
