4 vol., folio: 1. 57 pl. (incl. front., dedication and "Table des matières") - 2. 70 pl. (incl. front.) - 3. 71/130 pl. - 4. Front.-131/206 pl.-3 unnumbered "Table des matières"; delicately hand-coloured and largely uncut copy (vol. 2: pl. 10 detached, pl. 11-12, 15, 63 missing, pl. 11-15, 63 inserted from another copy (pl. 13 and 15 double), b/w with margins trimmed, vol. 3: front. missing, pl. 109: large tear without loss, generally good copy with sm. defects).
Contemp. vellum (tr. of use, sm. repairs, vol. 3 inner joint partly detached).
Nearly complete set in the first edition with only a few pl. replaced from another copy and the frontispice of the 3rd vol. missing. A complete matching set is very rare! With 257 pl. bordered by a rococo surround, printed from a separate copperplate. Engr. by François-Nicolas Martinet, 2nd front. engr. by Le Canut after De Seve. The 1st vol. deals with cosmography, the other 3 vol. with historical geography. A fifth volume of modern geography was announced but was apparently never published.
