Jan van Horne, last count of Horn, married in 1532 Anna van Egmont (d. 1576), widow of Joseph van Montmorency, lord of Nevele (d. 1529). When Horne died in 1540 without issue, his wife was granted the usufruct of the domain of Horn. Philips van Montmorency, her eldest son, inherited the domain of Horn provided he married Walburgis von Nuenar. The marriage took place in 1546. Walburgis (1533-1600), raised a Lutheran, in later years became a staunch calvinist.
