4to: [8]-cxxxxvi (= 136) ff. (toned).
Mod. half vellum, decorative paper on covers, flat spine with gilt leather label (soiled). Good copy.
Very rare postincunable ed. (3rd recorded copy?). It is an undated repr. of one of the earlier editions (c. 1509, c. 1510) by the important Parisian publisher Jehan Petit. It is a trsl. by Ambrosius (Traversarius) Camaldulensis of Diogenes’ compilation of lives and works of Greek philosophers from Anaximander to Epicurius, edited by Benedetto Brognolo (1st publ. Rome 1472). The present copy completely agrees with the digitized München copy (identical collation, foliation, title, mark etc.). Large woodcut mark on title. Ref. Pettegree FB 65072 [2: München, Yale]. - Hoffmann II:75. - Not in Adams, BP16 (BnF), Moreau, STC French (BL). Prov. Bookseller's ticket E. Nourry, Paris. - [Georges Petit].
