Lot description
Drawing, pen and brown ink, grey and black wash, construction lines in black chalk, 22 x 15,2 cm, laid paper with vague watermark, unsigned (sm. tear at upper right corner).
Architectural design drawing of the elevation of an unidentified tomb monument. Standing between a double pair of Tuscan columns or pilasters is an elaborate tomb with two mourning figures on top. Above an architrave is a representation of the deceased praying on his knees, seen between the figures of Spes and Fides. Most likely a generic design by a French Baroque artist.
