Lot description
Drawing, black chalk, pen and brown ink, brown wash, grey ink framing lines, 11,7 x 10,6 cm, laid paper, signed "Salvator Rosa" at the bottom, and "S. Rosa" on verso (underlaid).
Formerly attributed to a Dutch school; the foreground bears a strong stylistic resemblance to "Jael killing Sisera", a drawing attributed to S. Rosa (1615-1673) and belonging to the collection of the Morgan Library (inv. 1975.10).
