8vo: [16]-543-[1] pp. (occ. foxing).

Contemp. overl. vellum, flat spine titled with ink (some spotting).

First edition of this treatise on divination by the French Protestant pastor and theologian Du Moulin (1568-1658). He was educated at the Protestant Academy of Sedan and had to flee into exile in London and Cambridge during the French Wars of Religion. Later, he became professor of philosophy in Leiden and Paris before returning to Sedan in 1625 and teaching at the Academy.
