Lot description

Sepia print, 28 x 19 cm, monogram "Jsay" at lower right corner (mounted by edges under passe-partout, some creases).

Nice portrait of this famous violin virtuoso , conductor and composer (1858-1931), known as "the King of the Violin", showing him in a contemplative pose. He was loved and admired by many composers who dedicated works for him, such as César Franck, Guillaume Lekeu, Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saëns, Ernest Chausson and Claude Debussy. He was also founder of the Concours Reine Elisabeth.
