First edition of this vulgarising work for the general public, based on the famous "Traité d'astronomie", by the renowned French astronomer La Lande (1732-1807), published between 1764 and 1771. The "Abrégé" deals with all the major subjects on the science of the heavens and the universe, and its wide variety of celestial bodies and their movement. Ill. with 16 folding plates showing celestial movement and astronomical tables, eclipses and astronomical instruments.
