8vo: [10]-325-[1 bl.-10] pp.

Contemp. calf, triple blind-ruled border on covers cornered with sm. floral blindtooled elements (sm. chips of leather missing due to wormwork ?), spine with 4 raised bands (joints rubbed), speckled edges.

Second corrected edition translated into English (first English ed. 1676) of Lamy's "De l'art de parler" (first, Paris, 1675). Lamy (1640-1715) was a French Oratorian, mathematician and theologian. Departing from the neoclassical rethoric of the late 17th c., "L'art de parler", was intended as a "scientific" account of how discourse works upon the mind (Theresa Enos, Encyclopedia of Rhetoric and Composition).
