Lot description
12mo: [20]-340-[21-1 bl.] pp. (bookblock cut a bit short shaving some headlines, page or quire numbers or an occ. plate border, light dampstain at beginning and end of vol., tear closed in Orléans map).
Contemp. polished sheep (discoloured, sl. rubbed), covers with gilt-ruled orn. frame, gilt spine with 4 raised bands, black leather title label, gilt sides, marbled endpapers, blue edges. Good copy.
Later edition (1st 1616) of this travel guide to France, England and the Low Countries, by J. Zinzerling (ca. 1590-1620), with an additional part on Bordeaux. Engr. ill.: title by J. van Meurs and 22 folding views of Antwerp, Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Calais, Geneva, Leiden, London, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Orléans, Paris, Rotterdam, Rouen, Toulouse, etc. (Geneva map underlaid). Woodcut ornament on title.
