5 vol., 12mo: [24, front. incl.]-524, [2]-574, [2]-527, [2]-648, [2]-576 pp.; 1 pl. (sl. spotting, light damp stains to vol. I-II-III, unobtrusive wormholes in margin of vol. II, wormtracks in first quires of vol. IV, some corners missing or marg. lacks of paper, ink stain in text begin. vol. I).
Contemp. mottled calf, gilt orn. spines with raised bands, red sprinkled edges (rubbed, def. to head of vol. I & V, occ. sm. wormholes).
First edition of the history of Geneva where the prolific Italian historian Leti (1630-1701) went to settle in 1660. He married the daughter of physicist Jean Antoine Guérin, and converted to Calvinism. Leti was expelled from the city in 1679. Illustrated with a frontispiece figuring Charles III, Duke of Savoy, and Pierre de La Baume, bishop of Geneva with their arms underneath, and with 1 fold. view of Geneva.
