Lot description
2 drawings, pen and black ink, grey wash, 22,4 x 29,8 cm, vellum paper, signed in pen at lower left corner "L. Overbeek" (some min. foxing).
Under passe-partout.
Leendert Overbeek (1752-1815) was a painter working in Haarlem and Amsterdam, known for his decorative wall-painting and rural landscapes. These two drawings in grisaille are a fine example of the artist's refined and articulated style with an eye for detail, depicting village life around Haarlem. His drawings are now in the collections of the Graphische Sammlung Vienna, and the British Museum in London.
