Two animated landscapes by the Antwerp painter Jacob Verreyt (1807-1872), who was a powerful representative of the Belgian Romantic school of painting. This lot consists firstly of a nocturnal landscape with a river and a farmhouse, and secondly of a dune landscape with a mother and child gathering brushwood. Verreyt was known and loved for his night landscapes such as the one included in this lot.
