Lot description
Engraving, 20,5 x 28,5 cm (platemark), laid paper with watermark (foolscap), full plate border and margins, signed "H. Bos. inven/Io. Galle exc.".
Very clean and clear impression.
Very rare print after a now lost design of Hieronymus Bosch. The second state (of 2), published by Joannes Galle. The first state of this print bears Hieronymus Cock's address "Aux Quatre Vents". Hollstein attributes this engraving to Pieter Baltens, after Bosch. Bastelaer and Hulin de Loo suggests it is more likely to be after Jan Verbeeck.
