4to: xxxii-462-[1] pp. (sl. spotting to some pp., quires sl. loosening at the end, sm. stains in lower margin of last ff.).

Contemp. marbled sheep, gilt decorated flat spine, marbled edges (sl. rubbed).

First edition of this Turkish grammar printed on the grounds of the French embassy, sited on the Pera Hill overlooking the Golden Horn. This printing press was established in 1787 by Count Choiseul-Gouffier, French ambassador to the Ottoman Empire from 1784 until 1792. The Arabic types were supplied from Basel. The oriental scholar Viguier (1745-1821) was apostolic prefect at Constantinople from 1783 to 1802.
