Publisher's binding: half grey paper, red decorated (acorns and leaves) paper boards by Ch. Ricketts, flat spine with lettered label (sl. soiled). Top edge trimmed.

Printed in Vale type under the supervision of and illustrated by Ch. Ricketts with orn. initials and a "Wild hop" border on p. iii. Poems edited by John Gray. Edition limited to 210 unnumbered copies on Arnold's hand-made paper. The English poet Henry Constable (1562-1613) is particularly known for "Diana", one of the first English sonnet sequences. In 1591, he converted to Catholicism and lived in exile on the continent for some years. He returned to England after the accession of King James, but was soon made prisoner in the Tower and in the Fleet. He died in exile in Liège.
