Later quarter calf, marbled paper on covers, spine with 5 raised bands, black leather title label, endpapers renewed.

Later edition (first 1703, under the title: "The description and uses of the celestial and terrestial globes and of Collin's pocket quadrant") of this very popular instruction manual by J. Harris (1703-1764), the British astronomer, navigator, economist, natural philosopher, government advisor and King's Assay Master at the Royal Mint. Ill. with 7 fold. engr. plates by R. Cushec. Introducing the latest models of globes, celestial and terrestrial, Harris demonstrates how to use them in solving 46 problems, incl. finding latitude and longitude and the position of the sun at any given place or day. With two final advertisement leaves.
