J. Friedlaender (Pless, Prussian Silesia 1912-Paris 1992) was a leading German/French 20th-c. artist. He fled to Paris in 1937 as a political refugee of the Nazi regime, and became a French citizen in 1950. He had a lot of influence on many artists who were students in his Paris gallery.
